Public schools welcome 68,937 first-grade students

Muscat: The total number of first-grade students enrolled in public schools in Oman is 68,937, which includes 34,836 male students, according to the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
With the start of the new academic year, schools were keen to provide a stimulating environment to welcome new students, especially first-grade students for whom it was the first experience in their academic life.
Schools across the Sultanate organized welcoming events and activities aimed at facilitating the transition of children from the home environment to the school environment and encouraging them to adapt to the new atmosphere.
Among the activities organized to welcome students were group games such as tug of war, which were not just a means of entertainment, but were designed to enhance self-confidence and build a spirit of cooperation among students at the beginning of their educational journey.
These activities demonstrated the schools’ commitment to providing a comprehensive educational experience that combines academic learning and the development of students’ social skills.
In a related context, parents showed great interest in accompanying their children on the first day of school, as many of them participated in the welcoming school activities, reflecting the cooperative spirit between the school and the family in providing the necessary support for students at this important stage of their lives.
