SALALAH: The Electric Vehicle Exhibition, a key highlight of the 2nd Green Mobility Forum, concluded on Friday with resounding success. Organised by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the event was held at the Uptown Salalah from August 27 to 30. Set against the backdrop of Khareef Dhofar Season, the exhibition drew a large crowd, eager to explore the future of sustainable transportation.
In collaboration with Dhofar Municipality, ASYAD Group, Mwasalat, and private sector giants such as Saud Bahwan Group, Alfardan Group, Al Sarooj Foundation, Evo Oman and EIV Oman, the exhibition offered a comprehensive showcase of electric vehicles and the latest advancements in green mobility.
Visitors were treated to a diverse array of activities. The EV area was a major attraction, featuring the latest models and innovations. Attendees had the opportunity to interact with experts and gain insights into the future of electric transportation.
The 'Kids’ Zone' provided a fun and educational experience for younger visitors, offering electric scooters, mini electric cars, and a creative workshop where children expressed their understanding of green mobility through art.
The event also featured an interactive stage with theatrical performances designed to raise awareness about the importance of electric vehicles and sustainable mobility. These performances engaged visitors in an entertaining yet informative manner, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
The exhibition received widespread praise from visitors. Khalid al Maashani, a Dhofar resident, shared his thoughts: 'I was impressed by the wide variety of electric vehicles on display and the interactive opportunities provided by the accompanying activities. This type of event greatly contributes to raising awareness about the importance of transitioning to sustainable mobility.'
Fatima al Kindi, visiting from Muscat, highlighted the educational value of the exhibition: 'It was wonderful to see the latest innovations in electric vehicles and to engage with the theatrical performances that delivered valuable information in an entertaining way. I hope to see more of these events in the future.' For Nasser al Harthi, who attended with his family, the 'Kids’ Zone' stood out as a unique experience: 'My children loved trying out the mini electric cars. It was a fun and safe experience for them, and it's an excellent way to introduce them to the idea of green mobility from a young age.'
An industry expert provided insight into the broader implications of the exhibition, stating, 'The transition to electric vehicles is not merely an option; it is a necessity for achieving sustainable development and environmental protection. Despite challenges like increasing the number of charging stations and offering a wider range of competitively priced electric vehicles, the opportunities in this sector are immense. With collective efforts from the government, private sector and citizens, Oman can lead the region in green mobility.'
The exhibition also provided a platform for sponsors to showcase their products and services, facilitating interaction between the public and both public and private sector participants.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has announced plans to organise the Green Mobility Forum in Dhofar Governorate on September 19. This forum will continue the dialogue on sustainable mobility, exploring the latest developments and solutions in this vital sector.
