The main hall is set to accommodate more than five to six tables for the daily matches while two additional halls will be designated for final warm-ups before the players enter the competitions.

OMAN SQUAD

The head coach of Oman’s national table tennis team, Omid Shams Shehrbabaki, selected the players representing Oman in this international TT event. The team includes Muhannad al Balushi (ranked 595th globally) will compete in the main draw while Asaad al Raisi, Mohammed al Mutawa, Haitham al Mantheri and Ghassan al Ghassani will compete in the preliminary rounds.

The Omani players aim to achieve various technical goals and will work hard to reach the final stages of the competition despite the expected tough competition from international players. This championship offers an excellent opportunity for the national team to earn more points in the international rankings and gain direct experience from competing against distinguished international players. The players are currently in a domestic training camp under the supervision of coach Omid Shams, preparing physically and technically for the championship.

VITAL EVENT

Abdullah Bamakhalef, Chairman of OTTA, said that this is the first international event jointly organised by the OTTA and the WTT in this year. “This event will be followed by another higher-level international event represented by WTT Contender Muscat 2024 which will take place in end of October and early of November. In this championship we are expecting to see more world ranking players. Oman had hosted this event twice in the previous year with major success besides the World Veteran Table Tennis Championship hosted by Oman in last two years with participation of more than 1,500 paddlers,” he added.

“These international events have significantly contributed to the development of Omani expertise in areas such as organisation, management, refereeing and coaching. The OTTA now relies on these local talents for organising and hosting international events and special thanks to our volunteers who are delivering vital role in the success of these events,” he concluded.
