Omani-Brazilian Business Forum seeks to deepen private sector ties

The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) organized the Omani-Brazilian Business Forum at the Chamber's main headquarters on Monday. The visiting trade delegation was received by Eng. Hamoud bin Salem al Saadi, Second Deputy Chairman of OCCI’s Board of Directors, in the presence of several business leaders The forum aimed to enhance bilateral relations between the two friendly countries at the economic and commercial levels, explore investment opportunities in various sectors, in addition to achieving cooperation and partnerships between the private sectors in the two countries in the sectors of information technology, food security, pharmaceutical industries, tourism, and industry.

Eng Al Saadi pointed out that the forum comes during the fruitful cooperation established by both the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Brazil, the most important manifestations of which are enhancing trade and investment exchange between the two countries, and efforts to enhance trade and economic integration by maximizing the benefit from the commercial capabilities shared by the two countries to increase the generation of opportunities between the two sides.

Al-Saadi added that the location of Oman qualifies it to be a center for attracting investments and re-exporting Brazilian products and goods to many emerging markets in Asia and Africa, while Brazil is a gateway for Omani products and investments to enter the promising market in South America.

Al-Saadi indicated that the Omani private sector is looking forward to working with its Brazilian counterpart in promising sectors, most notably food security, contracting, construction, marketing, pharmaceutical industries, food industries, information technology, tourism and industry.

He also said that the Chamber, as the official representative of the private sector in Oman, is keen to provide all means for Omani businessmen to meet with their Brazilian counterparts to exchange experiences and discuss finding commercial partnerships.

For his part, Marcelo Lucas, head of the Brazilian businessmen delegation, expressed his happiness to be in the Sultanate of Oman and his appreciation for the level of relations between the two countries in the economic and commercial fields, as these relations seek to achieve the development goals that the two countries seek.

The forum witnessed the presentation of a visual presentation entitled (Invest in Oman) in which the progress achieved by Oman in credit ratings and international indicators was reviewed, and the sectors relied upon to achieve the goals of economic diversification in the (Oman 2040) vision were highlighted, which include logistics, industry, tourism and food security, in addition to the possible sectors represented by health, education and information technology.

The presentation also touched on the legislation regulating investment in Oman, as well as investment incentives and components and ease of starting businesses.

The Brazilian companies participating in the forum presented visual presentations to introduce their businesses, which represent the sectors of technology, food industries, construction and pharmaceutical industries.
