Nasr al Hasani elected chairman of Handball Athletes Committee

Nasr bin Hamed al Hasani was elected as Chairman of the Athletes Committee of the Oman Handball Association (OHA), and was appointed as a member of the OHA's Board of Directors for the electoral period 2024-2028, while Ameer bin Saif al Dighaishi was chosen as Vice-Chairman. The appointments also included Adel bin Hamed al Hasani as secretary and Arif bin Ghulam al Balushi and Mousa bin Ali al Dighaishi as members.
The elections were held on Monday at the headquarters of the Oman Olympic Committee, Khalfan bin Hamed al Zeedi, President of Nizwa Club, headed the Elections Committee, in the presence of Adil bin Abdullah al Farsi, President of Saham Club, Chairman of the Electoral Appeals and Appeals Committee, and a number of members of the OHA's Board of Directors, in addition to 14 out of 19 members of the General Assembly of the Athletes Committee. After the legal quorum was completed, the committee was elected from among 7 candidates.
The electoral process concluded with 60 votes, with Nasr al Hasani receiving 12 votes, while Younis bin Said al Azan and Yaqoub bin Yousef al Qasimi received zero votes, and Arif al Balushi, Mousa al Dighaishi, Ameer al Dighaishi and Adel al Hasani received 12 votes each.
Following his victory as the Chairman of the Athletes Committee, Nasr al Hasani expressed his deep gratitude to his fellow voters for the trust they have placed in him. He pointed out that his election to this position reflects the members’ belief in his leadership role and his ability to provide the required contribution, whether through assuming the chairmanship of the Athletes Committee or through his membership in the Oman Handball Association.
Al Hasani added that the establishment of the Athletes Committee comes as a historic step in the association’s journey, as this committee is the first of its kind to be established to support and enhance the association’s efforts to develop handball in Oman. He explained that the committee will work on formulating strategic plans aimed at supporting the association in organising sports competitions and providing technical and administrative support to athletes. The committee will also contribute to improving the level of sports performance and enhancing the game's infrastructure, which will contribute to the advancement of Omani handball at the local and international levels.
He also pointed out that the committee will seek to activate the role of athletes within the OHA by presenting new proposals and ideas that will push the wheel of development forward, in cooperation with all concerned parties. Al Hasani also stressed the importance of working in a team spirit to achieve common goals that serve the interests of Omani sports in general and handball in particular.
