MUSCAT: The Tourism Hub at Muttrah Waterfront in Muscat Governorate plays a vital role in providing information and guiding visitors to the most prominent heritage sites and different tourism destinations in the Sultanate of Oman.

Muttrah Tourism Hub (MTH) is prompt in answering the queries of tourists and providing them with necessary information about tourism companies and hotels. The centre showcases activities and events that serve the tourism, heritage and entertainment sectors and encourage visitors to explore them.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said in a statement that more than 6,000 visitors availed the services of MTH since its opening on January 1, 2024 until mid-August 2024.

MTH responded to queries about tourist sites and services in Muscat Governorate, traditional markets, programmes of transportation and communication, food recommendations, trips, tours and cruises in Muscat city and adjoining areas.

Hana bint Salim al Bahraniyah, Head of the Heritage and Cultural Tourism Department, Supervisor of Muttrah Tourism Hub in the Wilayat of Muttrah, said that the centre also helps visitors by providing brochures, tourist maps and information related to museums, companies providing tourism services, hotels and promoting events and activities held in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman throughout the year.

She added that the centre also collects the comments and recommendations about ways to improve the services rendered to tourists.

Hana told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism recently completed the drafting of maps and designs related to the establishment of similar tourist guidance centres in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate.

The plan, which is in the process of being endorsed by the government departments concerned, focuses on applying the best sustainable practices in the tourism sector. — ONA
