Oman U-17s excel in friendlies before W Asian Championship

The Oman Under-17 football team concluded their overseas camp on a successful note. The junior Red Warriors had played three friendly games in the external camp which lasted for ten days and all the games ended in victory for the national team.
Oman team finished their last warm-up game against Fenerbahce FC by a 3-1 win to register their third successive victory. The goals were scored by Ahmed al Omrani, Abdulaziz al Balushi and Al Waleed al Rashdi.
In the first preparatory match against Qatar’s Al Ahli FC, Oman boys thrashed Qatari team 5-0. It was the match where Ahmed al Omrani was the star as he netted three goals (Hatrick) while Sulieman al Kharousi and Abdullah al Saadi scored one goal.
In the following second warm-up game, Oman team managed to earn a 7-3 triumph over FC Sher Bishkek. Osama al Mamari scored two goals while Ahmed al Omrani, Muath al Hinai, Firas al Saadi, Al Yazen al Balushi and Al Waleed al Rashdi etched their names on the scoresheet by scoring one goal for each.
The abroad camp will be followed by a comprehensive internal gathering prior travelling to Jordan in end of the existing month. Amman city will host the 11th edition of the West Asian Championship which will take place from September 2 to 11.
The tournament will feature participation of nine teams which will be distributed into three groups. Oman U-17 team will play against Yemen and Saudi Arabia in Group B while Group A will comprise from the hosts Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon while Bahrain will secure slot against Syria and Palestine teams in Group C.
Oman begins their group matches at the West Asian tournament with a match against defending champions Yemen on September 2 on the opening day and then meets Saudi Arabia on September 4.
The topper from each group will advance to the seminal beside the best second-placed team among the three groups. Oman junior Red Warriors will eye to book a slot at 2025 AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers. Oman team will compete against Tajikistan, Guam and host Singapore in Group J for the 2025 AFC U-17 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
The national U-17 coaching staff worked very hard during the camp to provide equal chances for the team squad to participate in all the friendly matches to evaluate the performance of the players ahead of the first assignment in Jordan.
It is expected that coach Anwar and his assistant team will finalise the starting list in the coming domestic camp before the assignment of West Asian event by early next month.
