Oman-EU trade exchange valued at RO 878.4 million

MUSCAT: Trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and European countries reached RO 878,404,292 by the end of May 2024, compared to RO 802,204,770 during the same period in 2023, an increase of 9.5 per cent, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The total exports from the Sultanate of Oman to the European continent amounted to 197,268,818 by the end of May 2024, with a total weight of 444,489,314 kg, an increase in value of 63.9 per cent compared to the end of May 2023, when the value of exports was RO 120,386,561, with a total weight of 269,416,977 kg.
The total imports of the Sultanate of Oman from European countries by the end of May 2024 amounted to RO 620,344,739 for a total weight of RO 845,710,927 kg, a decrease in value of 1.5 per cent compared to the end of May 2023, when the total imports amounted to RO 630,055,390 for a total weight of 940,371,625 kg.
The total re-exports from the Sultanate of Oman to European countries by the end of May 2024 amounted to RO 60, 790 735 for a total weight of 6, 083,042 kg, an increase in value of 17.4 per cent compared to the end of May 2023, when the total re-exports amounted to RO 51,762, 819 for a total weight of 2,056 and 350kg.
The Federal Republic of Germany was ranked first among European countries in trade exchange with the Sultanate of Oman, as the total Oman exports to Germany by the end of May 2024 amounted to RO 9,199, and 989, compared to imports worth RO 88,560,818, while the value of re-exports to it amounted to RO19,845,310.
The Kingdom of Belgium was the second with total Omani exports amounting to RO 6,043,479, compared to imports worth RO 100,916,833. In contrast, the value of re-exports amounted to 2,359,660.
