Muscat Municipality calls for light shades on buildings

Muscat: Muscat Municipality has urged all apartment owners to use white and its shades when choosing the colours of the exterior walls, architectural protrusions, and fences of buildings.

According to the architectural guidelines for Duqm City, using light-colored exteriors will aid in heat reduction due to their reflective properties and minimal heat absorption.

According to the guidelines, white shades are used in properties in Oman and Muscat to maintain a relationship with the context. 'Omani architecture uses light shades of brown based on the Omani landscape and colours. The same colour palette will be used to correspond with the local context and to ensure sustainability,' it noted.

There have always been several travel writers and vloggers who have highlighted the skyline of Muscat. Muscat's skyline is unique due to the absence of skyscrapers and white or light-shaded buildings, reflecting the city's peace-loving nature, where different cultures live together in harmony.
