Omani percussionists and singers will join Indian artists to create a fusion of Indo-Omani music for an audience of over 3,000 people from various sectors of society on August 23 at Al Falaj Grand Hall.

The local music band called 'Dawahi Muscat', led by Abdullah al Jabri, will share the stage with their Indian counterparts for a lengthy music medley that is sure to captivate the crowd, as announced by the organisers during a press conference on Wednesday.

According to Muscat Panchavadya Sangham, the organisers of 'Muscat Pooram' sponsored by Middle East Fire and Safety, more than 100 artists will perform various Indian art forms, as well as local dances and music from Oman.

The mega event, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Muscat Panchavadya Sangham, will feature renowned artists such as Kuttanellur Rajan Marar and Panchar Mela, along with over sixty artists led by Chowvallur Mohana Warrier and Panangathiri Mohanan. The Indian ambassador will be the chief guest.

In addition to Panchavadya, which utilises five percussion and other musical instruments, Kala Sangam, Keli Kombu Pat, Kuzhalperat and Digital Fireworks will be other highlights.

Ace drummer Siva Mani is prepared to dazzle the audience with his impressive drumming skills throughout the three-hour musical extravaganza. Another highlight will be the presence of Vadyakulapati Annamanada Parameswaran Marar, a highly respected figure with disciples worldwide, and Ashan Thichur Surendran, who has been trained under his guidance.

Manoharan Guruvayur is the founder of this group of artists, and the programmes have been performed under his direction at various venues each year.

In addition to Muscat Panchavadya Sangham, Aasan Thichur Surendran, coordinator Manoharan Guruvayur, Rathish Patiyath, Vasudevan Thaliara, Ravi Palissery, Suresh Haripad, Chanthu Mirosh, Rajesh Kayamkulam, Ajith Kumar, and Viji Surendran Anita Rajan will also be part of the event.

Muscat Panchavadya Sangham is the largest musical ensemble in Oman, showcasing Kerala's unique temple arts like Panchavadyam, Tayambaka, Melam and Keli for the past two decades.

The organisers are hopeful that this cultural fusion, combining Indian traditional music with Omani traditional music and dance, will create a new experience and mark a new chapter in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
