“Thanks to the Sultanate of Oman represented by the Oman Bodybuilding Committee for their top efforts towards hosting this major event. I had a visit to the stage and it is well prepared and ready for the event. The West Asian activities were halted for the past four years and only resumed last year. The last edition of the West Asian championship was in Bahrain. We are expecting more players to take part in this edition,” Manar Haikel, Chairman of West Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Association, said.
Responding to an inquiry on the selection, Dr Salim said: ”The national team bodybuilders were selected based on their performances at the Oman Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship in March. This is the main domestic event. The toppers in this event will represent the country in the world, Arab, Gulf and West Asian tournaments.”
Moahmmed al Siyabi, head coach of the Oman bodybuilding and fitness team, affirmed that the players are in good shape for the event. “The players were under comprehensive camp with daily two training sessions. Our aim is to take the first place in the tournament and we are entering this event with maximum number of players. Our stars in bodybuilding have managed to impress in the international and regional events. Our hopes are very high to achieve the top medals and secure the first place,” he said.

Al Bahri said that hosting the West Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championship aligns with Oman Vision 2040. “ This event is emphasising the importance of youth and attracting regional and international championships. The aim is to place bodybuilding on the global sports map and to promote Oman as a known investment destination by showcasing its strategic location and capabilities.”
Commenting on the refereeing part: ”Umpiring is a very crucial element for the success of the championship. Each participating country will bring their referees and the organising committee has formed a technical committee to select the best referees to manage the competitions. Additionally, several referees from the Gulf and Arab regions known for their expertise in such championships will be invited to ensure transparency and fairness in judging,” he concluded.
