Global Space and Technology Co receives CAA drone services licence

The Global Space and Technology Company, Oman’s first privately owned space startup, has announced that it has received a license from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) permitting its Unmanned Technology Center to provide various services related to drone technologies and unmanned vehicles.
Among the most important services are training, equipment supply, maintenance, specialized assembly, and installation, and conducting experiments according to the customer needs. The training programmes include comprehensive and specialized training in the use of drones and unmanned systems, as well as granting licenses to operate them to be a drone pilot.
Additionally, the programmes focus on developing skills in aerial photography, software technologies, reconnaissance, geological surveying, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) analysis programmes, among others. The center also offers advanced workshops for specialists and experts, providing in-depth training in drone design and engineering, equipping participants with the necessary practical and scientific expertise. The center provides its services to the government, security, and military sectors, as well as to the commercial private sector and hobbyists.
Eng Bahiya Hilal Sultan al Shuaibi, Founder and CEO of the Global Space and Technology Company, said: 'We are pleased with this achievement, which represents a significant step towards realizing our vision of enhancing Unmanned technology sector. We extend our thanks to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for their support and for granting us this license.”
She further added: “The Unmanned Technology Center is a crucial turning point in the development of the drone and unmanned Arial system in the region, keeping pace with global developments and meeting the rapid growth locally and in the regional markets. This center also provides a scientific and practical environment in the field of Unmanned technology (aerial, land, and sea) and related systems and experiments, granting trainees with the licenses to operate them to be a drone pilot. The center aims to have partnerships with specialized global institutions and attract investments in drone manufacturing, with the goal of transferring knowledge and technology to the region. The company always works to push the boundaries of innovation by offering high-quality and distinctive products and services that support advanced technology.'
The Unmanned Technology Center is one of the projects of 'ZONE 88', a subsidiary of the Global Space and Technology Company, which was recently announced as a scientific and economic area focused on space sciences and advanced technologies, located in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm.
The area includes five global projects: the Space habitat Center, the Commercial Space Launch Area, the Unmanned Technology Center, the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Technology Testing Area, and the Ground Station. These projects aim to enhance the space and technology industries, attract global investments and scientific research, and build a sustainable knowledge economy in the region.
