MUSCAT: The Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the brutal attack committed by the Israeli occupation forces on the Tabieen school in the Al Daraj quarter of the Gaza Strip which shelters displaced persons.
The attack, which occurred at dawn, resulted in the tragic loss of over 100 Palestinian lives leaving dozens of unarmed civilians injured in yet another heinous crime in the ongoing atrocities committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that the targeting of schools and civilian facilities constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and UN resolutions.
In the statement, the Sultanate of Oman renewed its call for an immediate international action to halt those heinous assaults, protect innocent civilians, hold Israeli forces accountable and enforce international sanctions against Israel.
The Sultanate of Oman reiterated its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to self-defence and the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the Security Council’s resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
