Gulf Theatre Festival to feature Oman’s Al Ru’oa

The Tawasul Theatre Group will represent the Sultanate of Oman at the Gulf Theatre Festival 2024 in Saudi Arabia. The Tawasul Theatre Group will present the play ‘Al-Ru’oa’ in the festival, which will run from September 10 to 17

The Gulf Theatre Festival, held biennially by Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, gathers over 400 theatre professionals, artists, and critics from GCC countries and other Arab nations. Known for showcasing diverse theatrical performances and cultural activities, the festival aims to foster interaction, exchange experiences, and encourage intellectual dialogue to advance the theatrical movement within the GCC. .

Al Ru’oa is written and directed by Taher al Harasi. The cast includes Surour al Khalili, Suleiman al Rumhi, Noah al Hosni, Hamid al Jamili, Asmaa al Aufi, Mohammed al Niyadi, Ammar al Jabri and Latifa al Azizia, as well as talented child actors Mohammed al Riyami and Az al Hinai. Additional cast members include Mohammed al Mabsali, Mazen al Sulaimani, Amer al Waheibi, Jalinda al Balushi, Mohammed al Balushi, Mohammed al Nadabi and Mohammed al Ajmi.

Al Ru’oa has been performed at the Tawasul Theatre Days and has competed internationally at the Den International Festival.

Director Al Harasi said, “The selection was made through a process defined by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. Al Ru’oa was chosen to represent Oman at this major Gulf theatre event, presenting a new challenge to showcase Omani theatre’s development through passionate and eager youth looking forward to new experiences and knowledge.”
