Over 60k students in foreign community schools in Oman

Muscat: Forty-six international schools (foreign communities) catered to 61,704 students through 2,935 teachers in 1,835 classrooms during the academic year 2023-24.

Of 46 schools, 21 of them are situated in Muscat, five in Dhofar, and six in North al Batinah.

According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), there is an increase in the number of students in foreign community schools from 57,054 in 2022/23, 50,836 in 2021/22, and 56,206 in 2020/21.

The number of students during 2019/20 was 63,145 from the same number of schools.

The number of teachers in 46 schools, dropped from 3,095 in 2019/20 to 2,717 during the academic year 2022/23, but it increased last year

to 2,935.

Last year, Indian community schools in the Sultanate of Oman allotted seats to over 3,400 new admissions for the year 2024-25

At the end of 2023, there were 716,880 Bangladesh expats, 500,883 Indians, 286,176 Pakistanis, 43,390 Filipinos, 32,395 Egyptians, and 26,536 Sri Lankans residing in the Sultanate, apart from other nationalities.
