SALALAH: In collaboration with Dhofar Municipality, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development (SMED) has launched its marketing, media, and communication campaign titled 'Our Pioneers in Dhofar.'
This initiative coincides with the Dhofar Khareef season, aiming to spotlight the contributions and innovative experiences of Omani projects and the vibrant small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that play a crucial role in the region.
The campaign is designed to inspire and support Omani projects and SMEs, which serve as key attractions for visitors, contributing to a unique and memorable tourism experience during the Khareef season.
It includes a series of communication, media, and marketing activities on social media platforms, featuring promotional video clips that highlight entrepreneurial projects adding value to the season.
Additionally, content creators from Oman and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) are engaged to promote these SMEs and Omani ventures across various tourist locations, encouraging the public to explore their services and products.
Mosa bin Khamis Al Balushi, Director of the Communication and Media Department at SMED, says: “The campaign showcases a selection of SMEs that have obtained entrepreneurship cards and are managing their projects successfully. This includes visibility through billboards along major roads in Dhofar and an electronic promotional guide featuring over 30 active SMEs and projects, presenting them as inspiring success stories within the governorate and across Oman.”
Moreover, the campaign also involves promoting several SMEs and Omani projects through the 'People and Khareef' programme on Oman TV, where a group of entrepreneurs from various sectors discuss their experiences, challenges, and valuable lessons learned. Specialised training workshops have been organised, focusing on artificial intelligence in entrepreneurship, the Entrepreneur Readiness Programme, individual consultations, and economic feasibility study preparation programmes.
In addition, five training programmes are being implemented in collaboration with Outward Bound Oman. These include the Oman Challenge Programme, the Young Innovators Programme targeting the 16 to 21 age group, the Sustainability Programme at Ashur Hill, the Leadership Building Programme, and the Team Building Programme at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.
A special programme for entrepreneurs from GCC countries, designed as an entrepreneurial adventure, aims to facilitate networking and the exchange of experiences in travel, adventure, and content creation.
The Dhofar Municipality has continuously supported SMEs across various tourist seasons, with the value of work assigned to SMEs in 2023 amounting to RO 4 million. This initiative reinforces the partnership and integration between the Authority and Dhofar Municipality, and underscores ongoing efforts to promote and sustain the growth of SMEs in Dhofar.
