IN Muscat, the School of Confidence Oman (SCO) has been a game-changer for children like 14-year-old Ammar Abdul Amir Al Balushi and 8-year-old Adhwaith.

Since 2021, this school has offered a Personality Enrichment Programme that includes speech and drama, soft skills and etiquette training, creative thinking, grooming sessions, and public speaking.

Many students, particularly Omani boys, have found their lives transformed. Sulaiman Fraish al Obaidani’s sons, Sultan and Sufyan, have praised the school for its well-run summer camps. “SCO helped us overcome hesitation, feel more confident speaking to groups, and improve our public speaking and English skills,” they shared.

Zaher al Sulaimani, a sponsor, expressed his appreciation for SCO’s impact. “The SCO team’s dedication to fostering a supportive and empowering environment for students is truly commendable. Their unwavering commitment to building self-esteem and nurturing individual talents has made a significant impact on countless young lives,” he said.

Shadaf Bhamla, Founding Director and Educator, has been with SCO since its inception. “Our programme is well-planned and structured to deliver focused and valuable lessons in boosting self-confidence and enhancing communication skills. We cater to children, teenagers, and adults, preparing them to navigate the complexities of today’s world with self-assurance and resilience,” she explained.

A 14-year-old Egyptian student testified that SCO sessions helped him immensely in terms of opening up with peers, gaining confidence, and improving his English language skills. “The classrooms are very clean, and the trainers are kind and helpful,” he noted.

Sowmya Adkar enrolled her hyperactive son, Shihan, at SCO to keep him productively engaged. “Shadaf effectively guided his energy, molding him positively. Shihan has made huge progress in his speech, drama skills, and confidence levels,” she praised.

The skills Shihan acquired at SCO helped him write poems and stories and even land a role in the school’s performance of ‘The Jungle Book.’ “I have to thank Shadaf for her dedication to nurturing the children and instilling confidence in them,” Adkar added.

Shadaf explains that they admit children from the age of 5 up to 14 and put them in three different batches. As and when they complete a level, they move to the next advanced level. “The SCO team’s dedication to fostering a supportive and empowering environment for students is truly commendable. Their unwavering commitment to building self-esteem and nurturing individual talents has made a significant impact on young lives,” she said.

Sijin Sasidharan, Adhwaith’s father, shared that his son’s journey over the past four years has been remarkable. “Adhwaith transformed into a supremely confident young man. He has participated in multiple competitions, consistently standing out and earning accolades. The School of Confidence has not only equipped Adhwaith with self-assurance but also molded him into a better human being,” he said. Adhwaith’s newfound discipline and confidence led to his selection for the school Toastmasters Club, further enhancing his public speaking skills.

“Her unwavering attention to each student’s growth, coupled with immense patience and periodic training, has been pivotal in this transformation,” he credited his mentor, Sadaf.

Ammar Abdul Amir Al Balushi’s father shared that though his son initially struggled with basic grammar and vocabulary, he has shown significant improvement through consistent practice and dedication. “He is now able to read more fluently, write with better structure, and speak with greater confidence,” he said.

Shadaf, a law graduate with other degrees, who started SCO, emphasised their holistic approach.

“Through interactive workshops, personalised coaching, and experiential learning, we empower students to discover their true selves, build meaningful relationships, and achieve their goals. Our approach focuses not only on academic success but also on personal growth and well-being,” she explained.

SCO hosted its first annual speech and drama competition, where over 100 students performed solo in public speaking, monologue, and storytelling. The school offers customised sessions for teenagers and adults, with in-person sessions held at its centres in Al Ghubra and Al Wadi Al Kabir, and online sessions for students from India, UAE, and New Zealand.

“I am incredibly proud of the progress our students have made and the positive feedback from parents and educators. Together, we are creating a supportive community where confidence flourishes and lifelong success is cultivated,” Shadaf said.
