Red Warriors to take on Real Murcia CF in friendly
Muscat: The Oman national football team will take on Real Murcia CF on Thursday in the opening friendly matches during its camp in Asturias region, Spain. This warm-up game is the initial match while two more friendlies take place in the coming days of the camp as the Red Warriors will meet Real Oviedo FC on Sunday. Then, the last warm-up encounter will be against CD Leganés FC on July Wednesday.
The ongoing camp in Spain is scheduled for the team’s preparations for the upcoming assignment like the Asian Qualifiers — Road to 26 starting in September and the Arabian Gulf Cup in Kuwait in December.
The head coach of the national team, Jorslav Shilhavy, is very keen to ensure the technical and physical development of the players during the match. Also, he will evaluate the performance of the players including the new faces who joined the Red Warriors squad. Furthermore, the coaching staff implement some technical tactics to boost attacking and improve the defending and the areas which require more focus to improve.
The opponent team in today’s match is Real Murcia Club which is one of the domestic Spanish football clubs. They are currently playing in Primera Federation — Group 2. The club has a commendable record, having won eight Segunda División titles and one Spanish Royal Federation Cup.
Oman’s coaching staff will watch from all the above three warm-up games against different tier Spanish clubs to implement and test various technical and tactical plans. Also, it is part of the strategic move for the team's comprehensive preparation for the Asian Qualifiers - Road to 26. The friendly matches will assist the coaching staff to evaluate individual player progress and the effectiveness of the training regimes. Based on the players technical performances during these games, the head coach and his assisting team will finalize the squad for the September Asian qualifier matches as Oman will face Iraq in Basra on September 5 and then South Korea in a home match in Muscat on September 10.
