MUSCAT: An entrepreneurial development programme focusing on Advanced Technologies (DotNxt Jadeer) concluded on Wednesday July 10, under the auspices of the Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, Eng Saeed bin Hamoud al Maawali.
Hosted by AWJ Innovation, the fourth edition of the programme attracted over 1200 participants eager to acquire the skills necessary to thrive in the Artificial Intelligence and the 4th Industrial Revolution sectors.
Speaking to the press, Al Maawali highlighted the significance of the competition, 'The programme is one of the commendable efforts to nurture startups and develop entrepreneurship, particularly in the technological sector, with support from the private sector. The programme managed to develop 31 distinctive ideas into viable startups.' Speaking to Oman TV, Director of the 'DotNxt Jadeer' programme, Eng Yousuf al Ibrahim, said: “The primary goal of the programme is to bridge the gap between higher education graduates and the requirements of the job market in general.
The programme targets graduates from the past four to five years and is renewed annually. It focuses on graduates from various regions of Oman, from Musandam to Dhofar, in both technical and artistic fields.” He added: “The programme aims to raise awareness about technologies existing worldwide and emerging markets. These emerging or renewed markets typically refer metaphorically to a broad range or a wide array of jobs within these markets.” Additionally, Al Ibrahim shared that the programme aims to equip participants with professional certifications.
“The programme provides participants with specialisations and professional certifications through partnerships with higher education institutions from various countries worldwide. This equips participants to enhance their skills, improve employability, and broaden their career opportunities, making them qualified for multiple roles rather than just one specific job.” Since its launch in 2020, the programme has graduated over 4,800 aspirants.
