Green sports programme continues in Bausher
MUSCAT: In line with its commitment to enhance its leading role in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, remains committed to support youth sports teams through its annual Green Sports program. Recently, the Bank celebrated the inauguration of the lighting system project for Azaiba Sports and Cultural team in the Baushar. The event was held in the presence of Sheikh Saif Ahmed al Khalili, Chairman of Bawshar Club, Said Ahmed al Salmi, Regional Manager of Meethaq Branches and team members.

During the ceremony, Said Ahmed al Salmi, Regional Manager of Meethaq Branches, said: “The Green Sports Programme continues to achieve success in supporting sports and youth across the Sultanate. The programme witnesses a great turn out each year as the local teams compete to benefit from the support provided that includes greening of football pitches, water desalination and lighting. I would like to congratulate the team for the successful execution of the lighting project and we wish them all the best.”



Speaking on the occasion, Salim Said al Rahbi, Head of Azaiba Sports and Cultural team, said: “I am pleased to extend my appreciation to Bank Muscat for the continuous support given to develop local sports teams. We are happy to see the completion of the lighting system project which will help the team to further take advantage of the space and develop their sports skills. The field will also represent a suitable venue for the team to launch events in the evening and to organize different cultural and sports activities.”

The Green Sports programme is one of Bank Muscat's key sustainable social responsibility initiatives. It aims to promote entrepreneurship, partnership, and community empowerment by supporting talented Omani youth in sports and culture. The programme also enhances the role of cultural sports teams in supporting national sports by improving sports stadium infrastructure across the Sultanate. To date, the programme has supported 183 teams and benefited over 50,000 team members in various governorates of the Sultanate.

Since its inception in 2012, the Green Sports programme reaffirms the Bank’s commitment to providing ample opportunities for young Omanis to develop their talents. It goes a long way in developing the sporting skills and talents of Omani youth, thereby leading to all-round development of the sport.
