Oman to ensure absence of Coca-Cola Cherry in markets over health concerns

Muscat: The Food Safety and Quality Centre (FSQC) has announced its readiness to ensure that Coca-Cola Cherry bottles are absent from the Sultanate of Oman’s markets following health concerns raised by France over bisphenol A.

In an online statement, the FSQC reported that it had been alerted about the potential health risks associated with Coca-Cola Cherry bottles. France has initiated a recall of these bottles as a precautionary measure due to the presence of bisphenol A in the internal coatings made from epoxy resin.

The FSQC noted that the product is only traded within French markets but emphasised that it is actively monitoring local markets with the relevant authorities to confirm the absence of the cherry-flavoured product.

Additionally, the FSQC affirmed that all necessary procedures are in place to prevent the entry of this product into the Sultanate of Oman.
