Since June 23rd, the Royal Opera House Muscat has been leading its annual summer camp, with this year's theme centered around the Animal World. This exciting initiative features seven dynamic workshops that will culminate in a spectacular performance titled Animal World – Wild on Stage! on July 4 at 5 p.m. in the main ROHM theatre. Designed to inspire children through various musical and artistic disciplines, this year's camp places a strong emphasis on nature and the environment.
Children aged 7 to 14, living in Muscat, have the chance to participate in workshops including Drama, Singing, Circus, Theatre-Dance, Drums, Props, and Technology. These sessions are taught by an impressive lineup of international and local educators under the guidance of the director, Alessandra Premoli. Experts from Italy and Morocco are leading the music, circus, and dance theatre workshops, while local educators such as YouThinkers for Drama, Tunes for Drums, and Mohamed Al Sulaimi for Technology bring their expertise to the remaining workshops.
In collaboration with Be'ah - Oman Environmental Services Holding Company, the Props workshop aims to educate children about recycling and the environmental impact of our actions, aligning with the overarching theme of respect for nature. Partnering with Oman’s leading environmental company underscores the importance of providing children with quality workshops led by trained experts.
As the director of this year’s summer camp, Alessandra Premoli, explains: 'We are in the second week of our workshops, and it has been wonderful to see the children quickly grasping new skills and deepening their understanding of theatre. Working with children from various ages and backgrounds has been an enriching experience. This year's theme, focusing on the animal world, has captured their imaginations and provided an engaging educational journey. I am looking forward to the final performance on July 4.'
The culmination of two-week program will be a grand performance on July 4 at 5 p.m. Directed by Alessandra Premoli and the educators, Animal World – Wild on Stage! will showcase the talents and creativity of the children, developed through their participation in the workshops.
