Oman eye second straight win against Yemen

MUSCAT: Oman will gun for its second straight win at 2024 West Asian Championship when it will face Yemen at King Fahd Sports City in Riyadh on Thursday. The match will start at 6:00 pm (Oman time).
The national team players commenced their journey in the championship with a crucial 2-1 win over Kuwait on Tuesday to claim their first points. In the same group Saudi Arabia and Yemen clash ended at 2-2 draw.
Oman’s triumph in today’s game will inch closer the team to the semis round and it is expected that coach Ahmed al Alawi’s boys will put their all efforts in order to capture the victory and to put one leg in the next stage of the tournament. Oman boys performed well especially in the second half after a tough opening half.
Muntaser Suleiman put Kuwait ahead as he scored the opening goal in the 33rd minute from penalty shootout. Ahead of the first half end, Muhannad al Saadi equlaised for Oman in the 44th minute after he received a perfect pass inside the box to convert the ball into a goal to make it 1-1.
In the beginning of the second half at 47th minute, Ghassan al Masrouri scored the second goal after a nice assist from Fahad al Mukhaini who sent the ball to Ghassan who found the target. Fahad al Mukhaini was named as the best player in the match after he showed top game including his assistance in the second goal.
