SUHAR: The summer centres activities kicked off in North Al Batinah Governorate, under the title 'My Summer of Entrepreneurship and Creativity.' The programme was organised by Office of the Governor of North Al Batinah in collaboration with various government, private institutions and civil society organisations.

The initiative aims to provide a diverse range of programmes meeting the needs of the youth.

Dr Abdullah bin Saeed Al Busaidy, head of the Committee of the Summer Centres in North Al Batinah, highlighted the modern concept of this year's edition saying “The launch of the second edition of the summer centres programmes comes with a modern concept that aligns with the job market requirements and realisation of 'Oman Vision 2040.' This initiative witnessed wide community participation from different organisations, covering various wilayats. The programme runs from June 23 to July 23.

A key feature of this year's programme is the introduction of an electronic platform for registration, making it easier for participants and parents to enroll in various programmes and workshops.

This flexible registration process ensures accessibility and convenience, allowing for broad participation across the governorate. Dr Al Busaidy says the flexible registration process allows participants and parents to easily enroll in the various programmes and workshops through the electronic platform.

Around 33 participating entities were divided into three phases. Preparations included meetings and workshops, defining the organisational structure, determining financial and administrative needs, proposing operational and marketing plans, and finalising the proposed programmes and activities.

The summer programme includes over 166 diverse activities, engaging more than 33 institutions and approximately 35,000 students from the governorate's schools. These programmes cover recreational, cultural, sports, religious, economic, and social activities, to meet the needs and interests of youth of all age groups.

Another feature is the focus on new types of skills-based programmes. These include training workshops in entrepreneurship, labour market, and trade, such as '21st century skills and jobs' workshops which aims at equipping youth with modern skills needed in the job market like coding, design thinking, innovation, AI, and mobile app programming. They are designed to stimulate creative and technical thinking among participants.

The activities also include awareness workshops and exhibitions on important topics, art sessions to enhance artistic creativity, Quran memorisation programmes to instill religious and moral values, and sports training programmes under specialised coaches to develop physical skills and promote teamwork. Health programmes are conducted to enhance health awareness among youth.

These comprehensive and outstanding programmes aims to help the youth of North Al Batinah to be fully prepared for future challenges and opportunities through a well-rounded programme.
