Musandam Governorate: Development work gains momentum

 
Muscat: Musandam Governorate is witnessing the development, construction, and expansion of several infrastructure projects, in addition to the implementation of several qualitative tourism projects that will contribute to the influx of tourists from various countries of the world to the governorate and attract more local and foreign investments.

Sayyid Ibrahim bin Saeed Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, said that the governorate witnessed during the last period a movement in urban development in various aspects, including residential areas and city centers, noting that several projects are being implemented, some of which are close to completion, and some of which are in the stage of consulting studies.

He said that Musandam Governorate has relatively committed to the amount allocated within the Governorate Development Program, amounting to RO20 million during the current five-year plan.

Fishing port: He said the multi-purpose fishing port in the wilayat of Dibba is 75 percent complete, and construction is expected to be finished in the first half of next year. It is a port affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources.

Regarding the implementation of the Dibba - Lima - Khasab road project, he said the project began at the beginning of this year and has passed advanced stages in constructing the initial preliminary road, which exceeded about 55 kilometers, and is relied upon to facilitate and streamline traffic movement between the states of Musandam Governorate and stimulate tourism movement there.

New Khasab Airport: The Civil Aviation Authority has awarded some tenders; Including three tenders in the current stage related to soil studies, wind studies, as well as design consultancy studies, which have gone well, as the airport’s capacity is estimated at 500 thousand passengers, and it is expected that the airport will be ready during the eleventh five-year plan.

Khasab Port: The company that was awarded the management and development of the port is currently investing and managing the port facilities and preparing feasibility studies over two years ending in October 2024 to clarify the economic feasibility and development plan. In the event of an agreement with the company, there will be the signing of a long-term agreement to manage the port.

Tourism: Several investment plots were assigned to investors in the wilayats of Bukha, Madha, and Dibba, in addition to the implementation of a plan to re-establish a resort in Dibba by the Omran Group, adding that the construction work in the “Ras Al Amud Resort” project is underway.

The wilayat of Khasab has made progress, and a resort belonging to the Club Med group will be implemented in the state, which is expected to be completed in 2028.

The development of the waterfronts in the coastal states and the Lima Province has begun, as the completion rate in the waterfront in the Wilayat of Khasab (Bassa Beach) has reached 95 percent and will be ready in August. In the Wilayat of Dibba, the completion rate of the facade has reached 50 percent. While the completion rate in the waterfront in the state of Buja is over 40 percent, In Lima, the work is currently being assigned to the contractor and is in the design stage.

The Governor of Musandam confirmed that work at Khasab Hospital and Madha Hospital is in the process of internal preparations and is expected to provide services during the current five-year plan.
