The Royal Opera House Muscat is proud to announce the launch of its 2024 blood donation campaign, celebrating the institution's 10th year of organising this life-saving initiative. Under the theme 'Anyone Can Be a Donor,' the campaign is run in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Blood Bank Services and will take place on Thursday, 13 June, a day before World Blood Donation Day.
Donors are invited to enter through the main entrance of the Royal Opera House Muscat and proceed to the donation clinic set up in the South Porch. The clinic will be open from 9 am to 3 pm, providing ample opportunity for the community to participate. Any healthy individual between the ages of 18 and 65 is encouraged to participate in this vital cause.
Blood donations are vital for saving lives, supporting treatments for accident victims, blood cancer patients, and mothers during childbirth. Donating blood not only saves lives but also improves donors' health by promoting better circulation and reducing iron levels, helping prevent heart disease and clogged arteries. Studies show that annual donors are less likely to develop circulatory diseases and leukaemia.
A Safe and Comfortable Donation Experience
For those concerned about the donation process, rest assured that each donor will receive careful guidance throughout.
Qualified practitioners will perform health checks before the donation. The actual blood donation takes approximately five to ten minutes and will be conducted in privacy behind temporary screens on comfortable reclining seats After collecting 475ml (just under a pint) of blood, a sterile dressing will be applied This experience is designed to minimise all concerns, ensuring comfort at every stage.
As a national institution, the Royal Opera House Muscat plays a crucial role in engaging with local communities. Beyond being a cultural landmark, ROHM is committed to supporting the community through initiatives like the annual blood donation campaign. This reflects ROHM's dedication to public health and well-being, fostering a spirit of solidarity and care among Muscat's citizens ensuring an adequate blood supply for those in need across Oman.
