ICAI Muscat Chapter elects new office bearers

The Muscat Chapter of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), which operates under the sponsorship of the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), conducted its 16th Annual General Meeting last week.

The event featured a talk by well-known CA, Ram Krishnamani who spoke on ‘Connecting the dots - Bharatanatyam in Auditing, Finance and Accounting’. The outgoing Chairperson, Jim Joseph, then presented the annual report and highlighted various activities of the Chapter over the past year. Notable achievements include: Oman-India investor meet, CFO programme, and the International Conference.

As part of the AGM, the following members were elected to the Management Committee for 2024 – 2027: Gaurav Kapoor, Unmesh Bhome, Sangeetha Sureshkumar, Badri Narayan Subudhi, Ashish Subhedar, Abhishek R Vaishya, Jay Duseja and Ajil James Kurian.

Elected as the new office bearers for 2024 – 2025 are: Gaurav Kapoor (Chairperson), Unmesh Bhome (Vice-Chairperson), Sangeetha Sureshkumar (Secretary) and Badri Narayan Subudhi (Treasurer).

‘’The new team is fully committed to continue the rich legacy of past leaders of the Chapter and assure that the activities of the Chapter will be more dynamic, unique, vibrant, content driven and towards the professional development and wellbeing of the members and the wider community,” said Gaurav Kapoor, the newly elected Chairman.

ICAI-Muscat Chapter was set up in 2008 under a MoU between the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), New Delhi and The College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS), Sultanate of Oman. It has the primary objective of providing Continuing Professional Education (CPE) to the members of the ICAI and Omani finance professionals. The chapter has over 400 members and in addition to Muscat, also coordinates its activities in Salalah and Sohar through its sub-committees.
