CAA hosts regional meeting on airport safety

 
Muscat: The sixth meeting of the ICAO Regional Group for Airport Safety Planning and Implementation, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Civil Aviation Authority, began on Monday with the participation of 10 regional countries and three international organizations.

With 23 working papers discussed, the meeting aims to enhance coordination and cooperation between countries in the field of airport safety and implement the safety and air navigation goals specified in air navigation safety strategies in the Middle East region, in line with the Global Aviation Safety Plan and the Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP). Engineer Mubarak bin Saleh al Ghailani, Director General of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation Regulationnoted, “After the progress and leadership achieved by the Sultanate of Oman in the infrastructure of airports and various areas of airport safety and security, this meeting comes to enhance the efficiency of the economic field of the Sultanate of Oman’s airports and the devices and systems that contribute to environment protection '

He added that it is hoped that this meeting will produce several recommendations and conclusions to increase the efficiency of air traffic flow at airports in the Middle East region, including the airports of the Sultanate of Oman.

The agenda of this meeting revolves around two main axes: airport safety management, and airport capacity and efficiency. The meeting will discuss monitoring developments and continuously updating the implementation plans for the Information Management Area in the field of aircraft planning and operations, including the implementation of the provisions of the International Civil Aviation Organization, and following up and analyzing the achievements made in implementing the process of certifying all airports open to international aircraft operations, contained in the Regional Air Navigation Plan.
