Silhavy picks 25 players ahead of Chinese Taipei and Kyrgyzstan

Muscat: The head coach of the Oman national football team, Jaroslav Silhavy, called up 25 players for the forthcoming domestic camp in Muscat, as it is part of the team’s preparation for the fifth and sixth rounds of the second stage of the joint Asian qualifiers for the 2026 Fifa World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup.

The camp will begin on Tuesday and the team will head off to Chinese Taipei on June 3 as they will take on them on June 6 in away game. Later, the Red Warriors will return to Muscat for their concluding match in the qualifiers against Kyrgyzstan on June 11. Oman had managed to win Chinese Taipei in Muscat by 3-0 on November 16, 2023.

The majority of players among the 25 who were opted up by Czech coach are representing Seeb Club (7 players) and Al Nahdha (5 players). Seeb managed to end their current season on a promising note as they are title holders of Super Cup, OFA Cup and recently lifted the league shield. Al Nahdha ended as runners-up of the top tier league and runners-up as well in the HM Cup beside finishing as second placed team in the West Zone of AFC Cup.

Three weeks ago, an admin staff of the national team comprised from Hussain al Zadjali and Kavankara Bavil went to Chinese Taipei to ensure all the logistics and technical arrangement of the team’s ahead of reaching the delegation there.

Kyrgyzstan are currently leading group D by nine points with goal difference than the national team who are positioned in the second place. Then, the Malaysian team are third with six points and then Chinese Taipei with no points.
