MUSCAT: The Oman Golf Association (OGA) board directors held their first meeting under chairmanship of HH Sayyid Azzan bin Qais al Said, Chairman of (OGA) in presence of the board members. In its inaugural meeting, the OGA board discussed ongoing and enhanced efforts to elevate the sport of golf to the highest levels. The meeting focused on positioning golf among the prominent sports that contribute to the enhancement of both sports and social aspects in Oman.

The board expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, headed by HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, for its support to the golf sport. The board also thanked the General Assembly members for their trust and election to lead the association for the term 2024-2028. They emphasised their commitment to strengthening relationships with golf clubs in Oman to promote the sport and expand its base.

The board celebrated the recent achievements of the youth golf teams in the GCC Youth Games in UAE as they won silver medal beside finishing in second-place in the under-18 category in Qatar.

The board approved the external participation calendar for this season, including Arab Men's Championship and Arab Junior and Youth Championships. Oman will host the Gulf Junior and Youth Championships for under-16 and girls later this year.

The board consists of His Highness Sayyid Azzan bin Qais al Said as Chairman, Fayez bin Mohammed Riyad as Vice Chairman, Ahmed bin Faisal al Jahdhami as Secretary-General, Nikhil Narendran as Treasurer, and members are Ghalib bin Fawzi al Busaidy, Mubarak Hail, and Jumana bin Ibrahim al Ghadani.
