Oman football U-17 to camp in Uzbekistan, U-19 in Iraq

MUSCAT: The Oman Football Association (OFA) announced that Oman under-17 football team will have an abroad camp in Uzbekistan during May 16 to 23. While the national under-19 football team will head off to Iraq for an external preparatory camp from May 26 to June 6. The national teams committee at OFA approved the warm up plan for the national junior teams as they will have a major assignments in the coming period.
The nearest overseas preparatory camp will be for Oman under -17 football team who managed to earn the silver medal in their recent participation at the Gulf Youth Games which hosted in UAE during April 16 to May 2, after an impressive performance. Oman junior team, coached by Anwar al Habsi, will aim for an outstanding show as they will have many other assignments in the near future represented by the AFC Asian U17 Cup qualifiers in October. The AFC U17 Asian Cup will be held in April 2025, while the qualifiers draw will take place in June. The hosts of the finals will be unveiled in June too. In the qualifiers, the topper of the groups besides the best four second placed teams in all the groups will advance to the finals along with the host country.
It is expected Oman team will play some friendly games during their camp in Uzbekistan and these matches will unveil the team’s readiness and harmony for the forthcoming events.
Oman U17 team includes: Ahmed al Omrani, Fahad al Mashaykhi, Ziyad al Mataani, Osama al Maamari, Qais Ameen, Ali al Awaini, Riyadh al Tarshi, Mudathir al Batrani, Muath al Hinai, Yazen al Khadli, Abdullah al Saadi, Al Yazen al Balushi, Firas al Saadi, Al Waleed al Braidee, Aseel al Habsi, Sulaiman al Mahruqi, Ali al Shizawi, Ahmed al Rawahi, Ibrahim al Tamimi, Sulaiman al Kharousi, Al Hassan al Qasmi and Mohammed al Mashaykhi.
On the other hand, Oman Under-19 football team will have comprehensive training session in Iraq. The planned external camp is part of the long term plan for the team to take part in the West Asian Championship which will be held in Saudi Arabia in the middle of the this year. Then, the team will take part in the AFC U20 Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers in September, while the finals of 2025 AFC U20 Asian Cup is scheduled to take place in February 2025.
The team, which is coached by Ahmed al Alawi, concluded in beginning of May an overseas camp in Manama which run for five days. During the camp in Manama city, the national team will played two friendly games against Bahrain. The first match ended for Bahrain 2-0 while the following game finished by a goalless draw. Ahead of Bahrain camp, the team went to Kuwait in last March for another camp. During the camp in Kuwait, The junior team had played two games against the hosts. Oman won the first match 3-1 and the second match 1-0. The junior Red Warriors goals were netted in the opening match by Masoud al Bahri, Fahad al Mukhaini and Al Hussain al Qasmi, while Abdullah Faris scored for Kuwait. Al Qasmi scored the only goal in the second match.
