Oman cricket team sets off for T20 World Cup 2024

 
Muscat: The Oman Cricket team on Sunday left Muscat for the T20 World Cup 2024 set to take place across the United States and the Caribbean. The Sultanate of Oman's first match is scheduled against Namibia on June 3 in Barbados, following their travel to the US for the tournament's inauguration.

In a statement to the Observer, national team coach Duleep Mendis expressed optimism, stating, 'Everyone goes to win, and we will see how the boys perform.' Opener Khasyap Prajapti emphasized the team's strategy, stating, 'We have to win against one big team in the group, and then it will be easy to make it to the Super 8.'

Aqib Ilyas is leading the team with former captain Zeeshan Maqsood keeping his spot in the group.

Other players of the squad are also optimistic about their chances in the group that also has Australia, England, and Scotland besides Namibia
