MUSCAT: The Oman Football Association (OFA), represented by the Women Committee, organised a two-day event, which featured several events targeting women of all ages in the Governorate of Musandam. The event aimed to promoting a culture of football among women and encouraging them to engage in it correctly. The women’s committee activities took place as sideline of the HM Football Cup Championship in Khasab.

The committee kicked off its programmes with a women's football festival in presence of Nabilah bint Abdullah al shehi, the General Manager of the General Directorate in the Governorate of Musandam, with the participation of 200 students under the age of 10 years, at the sports complex in Khasab.



The festival included various activities started with a speech of women's Committee introducing the HM Cup, the objectives of organising this festival in the Governorate of Musandam, the importance of spreading the culture of football among girls, and encouraging them to participate. The festival also aimed to bring women closer to such local events on the principle of gender equality in football practice. The festival also hosted players from Al Nahda and Dhofar clubs who showcased some of their skills and engaged the girls in them as part of the entertainment aspect.

Lujaina bint Mohsin bin Haider Darweesh al Zaabiyah, the chairwoman of the Women's Committee at OFA, along with committee members, met with women from Omani Women Associations in the Governorate of Musandam. During the meeting, the participants discussed the foundations of building promising partnerships that contribute to serving the women's football sector in the governorate within a systematic framework. The Women's Committee listened to the challenges facing women's participation in football in the governorate and praised the tangible role played by women in the governorate in encouraging their children to engage in sports in general.



The meeting, hosted by the Oman Women Association in Khasab, concluded with full cooperation from all parties and a readiness to advance and continue the strategies set by the committee, ensuring the participation of girls, taking into account all surrounding circumstances.

Lujaina al Zaabi delivered a speech encouraging women to engage in football. 'Involving talented Omani women of all ages in women's football programmes is an implementation of our national goals to encourage Omani women to engage in football, based on the principle of gender equality, and also emphasises the goals of the committee in spreading the game's culture. Therefore, it is necessary to establish communication channels and build real partnerships for joint work between the parties to serve girls in the governorate.' She added
