ORSC chief attends AGM meetings of BWF, Badminton Asia
MUSCAT: Dr Abdulrahim bin Musallam al Droushi, the Chairman of Oman Racket Sports Committee (ORSC), took part in the General Assembly meetings of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Asia recently in Chengdu, China.

These meetings included badminton forum which discussed several topics contributing to the development of the sport at the local and international levels. During this period, Chengdu, China was the host city for the most powerful international badminton tournaments namely: the Thomas Cup and the Uber Cup.

Badminton Asia’s General Assembly had a large attendance of its members. On the sidelines, Dr Abdulrahim discussed in a special meetings with the Development and Competitions Committees of the Badminton Asia’s a number of upcoming tournaments in the committee's calendar for this year and the following years.

Moreover, they discussed the possibility of implementing and hosting tournaments at the regional level. They also discussed several projects that the committee aims to implement in the Sultanate of Oman to achieve a set of goals related to community sports and the support provided by the Asia Badminton in developing the game, such as hosting regional tournaments, increasing club participation in local tournaments, and advancing the implementation of badminton initiatives.

'This visit has opened up wide horizons for us to implement additional projects that enhance the committee's performance in developing the game in the Sultanate of Oman. The ORSC has presented the best practices in globally developing participation levels, particularly in our community projects and projects directed towards schools,' the chief of ORSC said.
