NCSI wins award in digital transformation in sustainable development

KUWAIT: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) won the 'His Highness Shaikh Salem al Ali al Sabah Informatics Award' in its 23rd session in the Digital Transformation in Sustainable Development category for the 2020 Electronic Census of Population, Housing and Establishments project.

The award was received by Dr Khalifa bin Abdullah al Barwani, CEO of the National Centre for Statistics and Information, during a ceremony held yesterday at Bayan Al-Amer Palace in the Kuwaiti capital, under the auspices of HH Shaikh Meshaal al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait.

Dr Al Barwani stressed that this award comes in appreciation of the efforts made by the Centre in digital transformation in statistical and information work, digitising data and using it to enhance knowledge and support decision-making in order to enhance the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

The 2020 electronic census contributed to creating a renewed information system linking various government agencies, which enabled it to implement a census of population, housing and establishments in the years 2021, 2022 and 2023 with minimal human effort and without financial cost and in a time period not exceeding 7 working days. — ONA
