Oman delegation reviews Singapore’s experience in clean energy, international arbitration

MUSCAT: During its recent visit to the Republic of Singapore, a delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) engaged in fruitful discussions with officials at the Singapore Center for International Arbitration. T

he 25-member delegation, consisting of the Chamber's Board of Directors, sectoral committee heads, and representatives from various industries such as small and medium enterprises, healthcare, construction, education, and innovation, as well as companies involved in real estate, transportation, logistics, digital economy, artificial intelligence, finance, and insurance, convened at the centre. Minister Plenipotentiary Anwar bin Ahmed Muqabil, Chargé d'Affaires of the Sultanate of Oman in Singapore, also graced the meeting with his presence.

Mustafa bin Ahmed Salman, a Board member of OCCI and Chairman of the Finance and Insurance Committee, lauded the center as a globally significant institution. He emphasised the chamber's intention to leverage the center's expertise in commercial arbitration, fostering an environment of heightened awareness about the pivotal role such centres play in resolving commercial disputes.

Apart from their visit to the Singapore Centre for International Arbitration, the delegation also toured the Urban Redevelopment Authority building, gaining insights into Singapore's urban development and infrastructure planning achievements. They delved into the rich history of Singapore's development journey and were briefed on the city-state's urban planning standards. Additionally, a technical presentation outlining Singapore's past, present, and future development endeavors left a lasting impression on the delegation.

As part of their itinerary, the delegation visited one of Singapore's leading clean energy contracting companies to explore the company's milestones in the realm of solar energy. Of particular interest was the company's undertaking to install solar panels in the state of Manah in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, which will generate a substantial 300 megawatts of energy.
