Rains to continue till Friday morning: Met

 
Muscat: Due to strong gusty winds and hail tonight and tomorrow morning (Friday) the governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta, Al Dakhiliyah, and South al Sharqiyah are expected to receive rainfall amounts ranging from 15-50 mm, leading to overflowing some of the wadis.



It may be noted that the wilayat of Rakhyut recorded the highest amount of rain with 58 mm, followed by the wilayat of Dhalkut with 51 mm, Salalah and Seeb with 50 mm on Thursday.

Additionally, isolated rain is expected in the governorates of Muscat, North al Batinah, North al Batinah, South al Batinah, and North al Sharqiya.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had advised all to take precautions during thundershower rain, not to cross wadis (flash floods) avoid low-laying areas, and not to sail during the alert period.

Heavy thundershowers are expected ranging from 20- 80 mm may cause flash floods

• Strong downdraft active winds with speeds ranging from 15 - 40 knots (28 - 73 km/h).

• Sea state may rise along Musandam governorate and Oman Sea coasts (2 - 3 meters).

• Reduction in horizontal visibility during thundershowers.

Dhofar: Heavy rains (15 -50 mm)

Musandam: Isolated rain less than 15 mm

Al Buraimi: Isolated rain less than 15 mm

Al Dhahirah: Isolated rain less than 15 mm

Al Dhakilyah: Moderate to heavy rains (15 -30 mm)

North aI Batinah: Isolated rain less than 15 mm.

North al Sharqiyah: Isolated rain less than 15 mm.

South aI Sharqiyah: Moderate to heavy rains (15 -30 mm).

AI-Wusta: Moderate to heavy rains (15 -50 mm).

South aI Batinah: Light to moderate rains (10 -20 mm).
