Heavy rains batter some governorates

Muscat: A number of governorates witnessed rainfall of varying intensity ranging between 20 mm and 50 mm associated by active wind and hailstones as a result of local cloud formation, on Monday.
Heavy rains were reported in the governorates of Musandam, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, North Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah and Muscat on Monday afternoon. Rainy clouds extended on parts of the coastal area of the Sea of Oman.
Meanwhile, the meteorological authority issued a heavy rain alert accompanied by active wind with wind speed of 35 knots.
Meanwhile, meteorologists at the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre are closely monitoring a trough of low pressure the impact of which is predicted to start on Thursday.
