Council of Oman takes part in Arab Parliament meet

CAIRO: The Council of Oman took part in the 3rd plenary session of the third session of the fourth legislative term of the Arab Parliament, which was held at the headquarters of the Secretariat- General of the League of Arab States (LAS), in Cairo, on Saturday.
The session discussed the report issued by the third meeting of the Palestine Committee of the Arab Parliament. It also reviewed the draft resolution of the Arab Parliament issued by the third session of the Arab Parliament regarding the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. Also discussed was the report of the joint committee on developing joint Arab action and activating its mechanisms as well as the reports of the permanent committees of the Arab Parliament.
The Council of Oman also participated in the 5th meeting of the Arab Parliament’s Office, and the meetings of the preparatory committees for the plenary session which discussed developments in the region and the Arab Parliament’s visions for resolving current crises as well as the draft laws under preparation by the Arab Parliament.
The Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Affairs Committee, headed by Shaikh Said bin Hamad al Saadi, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, discussed the report on the human rights situation in the Arab world for 2023.
The committee also discussed the Arab parliamentary vision on addressing the impact of climate change on human rights in the Arab world and the preparation of an Arab guiding law to combat illegal immigration in the Arab world as well as the draft Arab guiding law to combat bullying in the Arab world.
Shaikh Dr Talib bin Hilal al Hosni, member of the State Council, participated in the meeting of the Foreign, Political and National Security Affairs Committee, which discussed political and security developments in the Arab world, the initial draft of the report on the political situation in the Arab world for 2023 and ways to enhance security and stability in the Arab world.
Meanwhile, Sariya bint Khalfan bin Amer al Hadiya, member of the State Council, participated in the Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs Committee, which discussed preparations for a symposium on protecting societal values in the Arab world and arrangements for launching the parliamentary document for Arab women.
Humaid bin Ali al Nasiri, member of the Majlis Ash’shura, participated in the meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee, which discussed the ongoing preparations for the second edition of the Arab Economic Forum on enhancing economic integration between Arab countries and the preparation of the Arab entrepreneurship strategy. — ONA
