The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) existing between the College of Banking and Financial Studies (CBFS) and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) has been renewed for a period of 3 years from April 2024, aiming at enhancing the ongoing Continuing Professional Education (CPE events).

The renewed MoU was signed by Dr Zahran al Salti, Dean, CBFS and Maari Ponniah, President, ISACA Muscat Chapter in the presence of Dr Yousuf al Mabsali, Asst Dean-Academic Affairs, CBFS and the office bearers of the ISACA Chapter recently.

The College has been sponsoring ISACA Muscat Chapter since 2000 and supporting its knowledge building programmes for its members drawn from across all sectors in Oman and other invitees from CBFS and its sponsor banks aiming at disseminating updated information and acclimatising the members of the changes happening in the sector across the world.

The College has also partnered with ISACA for organising training courses and seminars for the banking and financial sector in Oman. The Chapter has also held preparatory classes for various certifications of ISACA and thereby contributed to local capacity building across all sectors in its area of specialisation.

Speaking to the Observer, Dr Zahran al Salti, Dean, said that the renewed MoU with ISACA adds further significant value to audit, IT and IS professionals by providing them a real-time insight into prevalent practices in information systems security and audit.

“This is a key element in a series of measures that reflect the consistent commitment of the college to local capacity building,' he added.

A government organisation established by a Royal Decree in 1983, CBFS is under the juristic supervision of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) and is also supported by all commercial banks operating in the Sultanate.

The college has over 1500 students attending various academic and professional programmes. The College also offers about 150 training courses annually, both under its Annual Training Plan and customized courses, which are attended by about 2500 participants.
