Seeb soar, Al Nahda maintain chase
Race tightens for top spots; Bahla move up from bottom

Round 16 of the Omantel Football League saw Seeb continue their impressive form and move a step closer to snatching the league title from current second-placed Al Nahda, after maintaining their 11-point lead.
Seeb defeated Dhofar 2-1 on Monday evening in a match played at Al Saada Sports Complex as part of the 16th round of the Omantel League.
Hamad al Habsi scored Seeb's goal in the 17th minute and Eid al Farsi netted in the 53rd minute, while Qasim Saeed scored Dhofar's goal in the 32nd minute.
With this win, Seeb raised their points tally to 44, flying solo at the top of the table with an 11-point lead over second-placed Al Nahda. Dhofar's points tally remained at 19, dropping to seventh place on goal difference behind Al Shabab.
In another match, Al Shabab and Al Rustaq drew 1-1 on Monday at Al Rustaq Sports Complex.
Al Rustaq's goal was scored by Mohammed al Ghafri in the 44th minute, while Al Shabab's goal was scored by Khalid al Buraiki in the 83rd minute.
With this draw, Al Shabab's points tally rose to 19, level with Dhofar on points, but ahead on goal difference in seventh place. While Al Rustaq's points tally rose to 18, occupying ninth place, 4 points behind Sur, the tenth-placed team.
AL NAHDA EDGE AL NASR
Al Nahda defeated Al Nasr 2-1 at Al Buraimi Sports Complex.
Al Nahda's goals were scored by Abdulaziz al Shamsi and Ali al Rashidi, raising their points tally to 33, in second place, 11 points behind leaders Seeb.
Al Nasr's points tally remained at 22, in fifth place, hampering their ambitions to compete with Oman Club for fourth place despite the latter's defeat to Sohar.
IBRI UPSET OMAN CLUB
Ibri defeated Oman Club 4-3 at the Ibri Sports Complex.
With this win, Ibri raised their points tally to 21 and snatched sixth place in the overall league standings, after Dhofar's defeat to Seeb and Al Shabab's draw with Al Rustaq.
Oman Club's points tally remained at 26, dropping to fourth place, two points behind Sohar.
At the Sur Sports Complex, Sohar beat Sur 2-1 to take the third spot.
With this win, Sohar raised their points to 28 and snatched third place from Oman Club. Sur's points tally remained at 14 and retained 10th place, their position worsened after Bahla defeated Al Wahda and raised their points tally to 12, just two points away from the first relegation place.
Meanwhile, Bahla left the last place after beating Al Wahda 1-0 at the Ibra Sports Complex.
Bahla's goal was scored by Junior in the 30th minute.
With this win, Bahla reached 12 points in 11th place and left the last place they have been in since the seventh round, while Al Wahda dropped to the bottom place with 10 points.
