Improved tourist infrastructure for unique Eid holidays

 
MUSCAT: Tourism infrastructure enhances the options of tourists and residents to spend joyous Eid al Fitr holidays. The holidays spur tourist activities in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism is working diligently to prepare the environment for establishing hotel facilities with multiple options that reflect the diversity of the tourism products and keep pace with the needs and aspirations of citizens, residents and visitors of all age groups and different tastes to integrate with various activities that suit all ages and interests and increase the attractions and diversity of the tourism product and support tourist destinations in various governorates.

Haitham bin Mohammed al Ghassani, Director-General of Tourism Promotion at the ministry, said that hotel establishments are keen to compete to provide accommodation packages designed for special occasions and holidays, including dining experiences, various recreational activities for children and adults, and relaxation at health centres while meeting the aspirations of visitors looking for tranquillity and relaxation as well those who seek adventure and excitement.

The data issued by the ministry reflect the diverse options provided by hotel establishments in Oman, which reached 813 establishments with 32,821 hotel rooms by the end of 2023 up from 674 establishments with 30,332 hotel rooms the previous year.

The number of 5-star hotels stands at 29 with 6,267 rooms, while the total number of 4-star hotels stands at 40 with 6,459 rooms, 3-star hotels at 57 with 4,827 rooms, and 2-star hotels at 74 with 4,245 rooms, whereas the number of 1-star hotels stands at 91 with 2,938 rooms. Hotel facilities in Oman also include 164 hotel apartments with 5,416 rooms.

Hotel establishments in Oman provide unique experiences such as camping as there are currently 24 camps with 704 hotel rooms as well as rest houses (39 with 633 hotel rooms).

In addition, there are 15 heritage inns with 125 rooms, 160 guest houses with 565 rooms and 120 green inns with 632 rooms, all of which provide unique heritage experience for visitors. — ONA
