‘Saleb’ claims Basra Race in UAE, ‘Manar’ second
MUSCAT: The horse ‘Saleb’ owned by Royal Cavalry won first place, while ‘Manar’ achieved second place at Al Ain Equestrian Track in the UAE.

‘Saleb’ snatched first place in the second round ‘Basra Race’, allocated to purebred Arabian horses for a distance of 2,000 metres, led by jockey Saif al Balushi and supervised by trainer Ibrahim al Hadhrami.

‘Manar’, owned by Royal Cavalry, finished second in the third round ‘Hili Race’, allocated to filly for a distance of 1,800 metres, led by jockey Connor Beasley, under supervision of Ibrahim al Hadrami.



OERF concludes season

On the other hand, Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation (OERF) concluded the final race for the season 2023-24, the race was held at Al Rahba horse racing track in Barka.

The final race was held under the auspices of Sayyid Saud bin Hilal bin Hamad al Busaidy, Governor of Muscat, in the presence of Sayyid Munther bin Saif bin Hamad al Busaidi, OERF Chairman.

The event included five rounds, three of which were allocated to purebred Arab horses, one round to purebred Arabian horses of local production, and one round to purebred hybrid horses.



‘BF Arkan’ owned by Majed bin Ali al Maamri won the first round 'Rustaq Fort’ for purebred Arabian horses for 2,000 metres, led by Al Mutasem bin Said al Balushi, under trainer Ahmed bin Hamood al Raqadi.

‘RB King’ claimed the second round ‘Nizwa Fort’ for purebred Arabian horses for a distance of 2000 meters, owned by HH Sayyid Saud bin Harib al Said, rode by jockey Amer bin Ali al Rasbi and supervised by Ahmed bin Ibrahim al Balushi.

‘Al Mugahaz’ finished first in the third round ‘Suhar Fort’ for purebred Arabian horses for 2,000 metres, owned by Abdulsalam bin Salim al Mashaykhi, led by Adam bin Talib al Balushi and supervised by Abdulrahman bin Salim al Rasbi.



‘BF Mohtaram’ grabbed the fourth round ‘Al Mirani Fort’ for purebred hybrid horses for 2,000 metres, owned by Fahd bin Khamis al Balushi, led by Mu’nis bin Salim al Siyabi and supervised by Mahmoud bin Khamis al Balushi.

‘GS Athba’ achieved first place in the fifth round ‘Al Jalali Fort’, for purebred Arabian horses of local production for 1,600 metres, owned by Jamal bin Salim al Shabibi. GS Athba was rode by Adam bin Talib al Balushi and trained by Amer bin Salim al Ghunaimi.



At the end of the race, the chief guest honoured the first-place winners, in addition to those who excelled in the season 2023-24.

Salim bin Said al Rashidi was crowned the best horse owner award, Al Muatasem bin Said al Balushi was crowned the best knight, Ahmed bin Ibrahim al Balushi won the Best Trainer Award, where the production Shield award for the best local production horse was won by ‘BF Arkan’, owned by Majed bin Ali al Maamri.
