Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information in Muscat organised a workshop on “Improving Reporting on Sustainable Development Goals 2030”, yesterday, March 7, with the participation of 70 representatives from 22 government entities.
The workshop aimed to enhance the role of government entities in monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and improving reporting on them in the databases of international organisations.
Through a series of working papers, the workshop reviewed the Sustainable Development Goals, statistical efforts in monitoring indicators, the role of the centre in data collection mechanisms and communication with international organisations, and the evaluation of Oman’s data in the United Nations database for Sustainable Development Goals indicators.
The workshop included presentations of successful models from the ministries of Health, Education, Housing and Urban Planning, and the Environment Authority, reflecting efforts to provide data related to sustainable development indicators in line with international methodologies adopted by the United Nations Statistical Commission. — ONA
