SUHAR: The First North Al Batinah Conference on Dentistry, which took place at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the National University of Science and Technology in Sohar, holds significant importance for the medical secto as it aligning with Oman's vision for healthcare advancement and professional development.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Busaidi, Governor of Suhar, the conference served as a vital platform for the enhancement of dental healthcare delivery in the Sultanate of Oman with around 150 participants.

Dr Jameela al Sadi from the General Directorate of Medical Services in North Batinah, said: “This conference aims to elevate the skills and expertise of dental professionals across both public and private sectors. By providing a forum for the exchange of knowledge and ideas, it facilitates continuous professional development and fosters a culture of innovation within the dental community.'

'Such initiatives are crucial for advancing the quality of healthcare services, as they equip practitioners with the latest tools, techniques, and insights needed to address evolving patient needs effectively,” she added.

By investing in professional development opportunities like the North Al Batinah Conference on Dentistry, Oman endeavors to nurture a skilled workforce capable of delivering world-class healthcare services to its citizens and residents.

Dr Asma al Bulushi, a member at organising committee of the conference highlighted that the incorporation of the latest advancements in dentistry during the conference underscores Oman's dedication to staying abreast of global healthcare trends and technological innovations. By embracing evidence-based practices and cutting-edge technologies, Oman aims to enhance patient outcomes, minimize healthcare disparities, and strengthen its position as a regional leader in healthcare excellence.

The conference, which comes with the Gulf Dentistry Health Week celebrations, is supervised by the General Directorate of Health Services in North Al Batinah Governorate. It not only fosters collaboration and networking but also shows the impact of knowledge sharing and best practices dissemination.

Through panel discussions, lectures, and interactive workshops in the field of Dentistry for individuals with special needs and autism spectrum disorders, as well as radiation therapy for oral bone decay, and dental medicine, participants have the opportunity to engage with leading experts in the field, exchange perspectives, and explore collaborative opportunities for addressing common challenges and advancing the field of dentistry collectively.

'We have noticed a significant increase in cases of tooth decay and gum inflammation among patients. This necessitates a focus and demand for providing therapeutic dental services to ensure patient satisfaction. Firstly, through preventive measures by raising awareness, addressing causative factors, and avoiding sugary foods and beverage,' highlighted Dr Jameela.
