Despite the warnings on the heavy rain and the Royal Oman Police patrols, some people risk themselves and their families by crossing the wadis thus violating the directives.
The Royal Oman Police, led by the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, arrests 36 people for crossing the wadis, endangering their lives and the lives of others, and legal procedures are being completed.
The risk of crossing valleys is a phenomenon that worries the society, despite the great efforts made by the competent authorities, represented by the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance, the Royal Oman Police, and the Civil Aviation Authority, in providing advice and guidance on the danger of taking risks of crossing the wadis.
However, the irresponsible scenes are repeated with every weather condition that the Sultanate of Oman is exposed to, with some young people and individuals irresponsibly taking risks in crossing the wadis.
The Royal Oman Police has been warning vehicle drivers not to risk crossing the wadis and to leave sufficient distance between vehicles while driving in rainy weather in order to preserve their safety and avoid traffic accidents.
There is imprisonment for three months and a fine of RO 500 for anyone who intentionally crosses the valleys, as the legal penalty for anyone proven to have intentionally crossed the wadi.
The Royal Oman Police, hoping for the safety of all, stresses the importance of adhering to the guidelines and advice that are broadcast and published through the official media following weather bulletins.
