Muscat: The Buraimi Court recently convicted a wedding photographer for failure to provide service in time and as per agreement with the consumer.

The photographer was punished with imprisonment and a fine.

As per the details, a complaint was filed with the Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) in Al Buraimi Governorate against a photography studio that was contracted to do a wedding album and a video.

The studio initially failed to deliver the photos and video in time and later provided only part of the promised work.

The reason given was only that the photographer had some issues with the data storage in his device.

The CPA said, 'The consumer objected to the unprofessional attitude and refused any settlement. The issue was transferred to the competent authorities, which issued a sentence of ten days imprisonment and fine of a RO100. It ordered the photographer to return the contract value of RO300 Oman to the complaint.'

CPA called on service providers to adhere to the agreement concluded with consumers.
