Muscat: Nasr al Sawai, the Public Prosecutor, said that the efforts of the Omani government with the Indian authorities resulted in the extradition of the accused in the family murder case in the wilayat of Bidiya last month.

He said, 'Usually, countries do not hand over their nationals to other countries for trial, even if the crimes were committed in those countries, but rather try them according to their national and local law. However, due to Oman's distinguished relations with the Republic of India and confidence in the Omani judicial system, the judicial system in India took the decision to extradite the accused, who is one of the four defendants in the Bidiya case.'

According to the first defendant’s statement, his three brothers died, but until confirmation comes from the Republic of India that his statement is correct, we are dealing with them as if they are wanted, and the last official response from the Indian authorities is that they have not been arrested yet.

A father, mother, and their three sons, aged 12, 9, and 6, were found dead in the family home in Wilayat Bidiyah in 2019.

They had been murdered with knives and hammers. It took two days for relatives to discover what had happened and raise the alarm but by then the suspects had already fled Oman.

They were killed by a group of expatriates who came to their house to repair air conditioners. The accused were able to flee the country due to a delay in reporting the crime.
