MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, asserted that the Sultanate of Oman is following with a great concern the continuing escalation in the region without any solution due to the ongoing brutal Israeli war on the Gaza Strip and the death and injury of tens of thousands of innocent civilians including children and women.

He said in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the vision of the Sultanate of Oman is that the only solution to the conflict lies in addressing its causes and motives, starting with the recognition of the independent Palestinian state and the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from all the occupied Palestinian territories.

Sayyid Badr pointed out that the Sultanate of Oman considers the retaliatory military attacks launched by the United States on sites in Iraq and Syria pointless. He added that launching such military attacks on sites in the region will threaten its safety and stability and will complicate efforts to forge solutions to the challenges facing the region including issues of violence and extremism.

Meanwhile, Sayyid Badr made a phone call to Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

During the telephonic conversation, the two ministers held consultations and exchange points of view on the course of efforts made to confront the dangerous escalation resulting from the continued brutal Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, stop this war, and launch a new horizon that leads to achieving a permanent solution and a comprehensive and just peace by ending the Israeli occupation of the occupied territories and establishing an independent Palestinian state.

AIRSTRIKES

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron called for stop to attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea following the latest UK-US airstrikes.

Cameron said the third wave of joint British and US assaults on positions in Yemen on Saturday took place after 'repeated warnings' for the group to cease its harassment campaign.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoon FGR4s were supported by Voyager tankers during the allied mission as they targeted locations in Yemen. More than 30 sites across 13 locations were hit by coalition forces, according to a joint statement by the eight nations involved.

Cameron tweeted on Sunday: 'The UK and the US have carried out further strikes on military targets. We have issued repeated warnings.' — Agencies
