Oman sees a 4% jump in vehicle registrations in 2023

Muscat: The number of registered vehicles in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 4 percent at the end of December 2023 to 1,667,393 vehicles from 1,660,803 vehicles in 2022
Those with private number plates accounted for 79.6 percent or 1,326,587 vehicles, while 54 percent of the vehicles (902,244) had an engine capacity between 1,500 CC and 3,000 CC, according to statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The statistics showed that the majority of vehicles were in white, at a rate of 42.7 percent, with 712,73 vehicles, while the highest percentage of increase in vehicles in terms of colors was in purple, in which vehicles increased by 21.6 percent, then gray, at a rate of 10.9 percent.
Vehicles with a commercial license accounted for 14.7 percent, with 244,486 vehicles, while the number of rental vehicles reached 33,861 vehicles, or two percent, and the number of taxi vehicles reached 27,881 vehicles, or 1.7 percent.
In terms of vehicle weights, the number of vehicles weighing less than 3 tons reached 1,510,013 vehicles, representing 90.6 percent of the total vehicles registered in the Sultanate of Oman.
